Year 7 students were invited to attend a residential visit to Blackland Farm in East Sussex as part of the pesonal development and enrichment curriculum. The trip provided a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, develop independence and strengthen relationships with peers and staff.

Students were able to experience Spanish culture and help develop their linguistic skills by putting into practice what they have been learning in school. Students spent time in the medieval town of Tarragona exploring the Roman amphitheatre and visiting some of the shops there. Part of trip included an exciting day trip to PortAventura theme park, followed by a full day excursion to Montjuic where our students met students from our Spanish partner school.

Clock House Farm Trip - December 2025 3rd Dec 2025

Year 9 students visited Clock House Farm in Yalding who are one of the UKs most innovative agricultural enterprises. Students were able to witness first hand how modern farming practices and state-of-the-art technology are shaping the future of food production. Students were able to see their heat exchanger which removes heat from the River Medway to heat their glasshouses. During the visit students explored how advanced technologies such as precision agriculture, automated systems and environmental monitoring are used to produce world-class fruit whilst protecting the environment. Students were also able to gain an insight into careers in farming, food production and agricultural science.

Students also gain a better understanding of what employers expect helping them to make informed decisions about their career goals and next steps.

The Children's Literacy Charity came into school to train 15 of our our most competent reader students in Years 8 - 10 to become Reader Leaders. Each Reader Leader works with a Year 7 student during form time over a period of 18 weeks to help build their confidence alongside developing reading fluency and comprehension. The students are also building relationships between themselves and across peer groups.

Year 10 Business students competed at the Young Enterprise Finals Event on 29th April. They competed against Year 12 students from Grammar and Independent schools. Their speeches were well prepared and very well presented. On the spot interviews conducted by panels of judges were confidently answered. They displayed equal ability, knowledge and professionalism to their competitors.
