medical health
Medical concerns are supported by a team of first aid trained colleagues. It is very important that we have a clear understanding of any specific medical needs and therefore ask that the following is completed and returned to the school with any specific information that we should be aware off.
In the case of illness or injury during the school day, students should report to the medical room located in reception. The designated staff will then manage the concern; making a decision on whether parents or carers should be contacted or to make arrangements for collecting their child.
The responsibility for contacting parents remains with the school and it is not acceptable for students to contact home directly, as this may cause undue stress and anxiety for parents.
Any medication being taken by students or requiring administering during the school day should be notified to the medical team and stored in the medical room. Spare inhalers, epi-pens or other similar medication that may be relied upon should also be provided and replaced on expiring.
As part of the general medical care provided by the school, we also work in partnership with the NHS in supporting immunisation and vaccination processes; these are coordinated and communicated to parents in advance of any visit.
